Electoral Literacy Club

ELECTORAL LITERACY CLUB

The formation of Electoral Literacy club was outlined in the meeting of the Governing Body dated 5.5.2022 ( academic session 2021-2022) for promoting electoral literacy among all the citizens of India- in an apolitical, neutral and non- partisan manner.  The activities of the club will focus on hand- on experience to sensitise and strengthen the culture of electoral participation among youth and young voter.  The primary objectives are stated below: -

  1. To educate the targeted populations about voter registration, electoral process and the usage, robustness and integrity of the electoral process using EVM.
  2. To facilitate voter registration for its eligible members who are not yet registered
  3. To promote electoral literacy in communities
  4. To facilitate voter registration for its eligible members who are not yet registered
  5. To develop a culture of electoral participation and maximize the ethical voting and follow the principle ‘Every vote count’s and ‘No voters to be left behind’.
  6. To walk along the path of inclusion rather than discrimination on any basis among the students of the college.
The club will be convoyed by the Department of Political Science- in collaboration with the IQAC body of Serampore Girls College in the Academic Session of 2022-2023. Students and teachers regardless of their political affiliation are free to take part in the activities of the club, but they need to be enrolled in the voting list.
